Arbite

Does brunch refers to lunch during breakfast or breakfast during lunch? For us, it's definitely the latter.

Shiwei, Lorraine & myself have diligently met up for the past couple of months for our regular brunch dates. Not so diligent on the morning calls though, hence thank goodness many places offer full-day breakfast nowadays. We indeed live up to the reputation of being Singaporeans- we are late for everything including breakfasts.

Hitherto we have tried PMEB @ Dempsey and Epicurious @ Robertson Quay. Last weekend we gave Arbite @ Serangoon a shot. What a place to explore. I must admit I'm not a very neighbourhood person- my neighbourhood is just a transient route I bypass in order to head to town.

Yes, typically Singaporean again, we searched pages and pages of food blogs, news & magazine reviews for the latest, most-talked about restaurant or cafe before we set our target. As patriotic as we are, we are loyal to no restaurants ;) Basically it is a touch-and-go manner whereby we take pride in trying as many different places as possible instead of finding our niche and calling one place 'our regular'.

Full-day breakfasts are one of the best things in life for lazy people like us. Look at that fluffy pancake. Look at that big breakfast. How could one resist? Don't we all love how juices burst into our mouths with each bite into the chunky sausage? Don't we go all soft with every mouthful of that wobbly, aromatic, scrambled egg? Don't we want to dump those succulent sauteed mushrooms into your mouths again and again and again?


Mushroom soup is one of the must-try in the menu but I beg to differ. Personally, I dig those ultra creamy ones. My taste buds were screaming for more flavours for this one. On the contrary, their seafood pie was light in a good way. Imagine downing this creamy seafood stew topped with endless baked mash potato- it is almost like a marathon. Pace yourself, if not you would raise your little white flag even before you could complete a third of the race.


The setting is clean, bright, refreshing- feels like Ikea, feels like home. Well, at least what I wish my hope would be. Arbite is worth heading to if you live nearby or if you wanna skip town once in a while.
